Thomas L. Jennings

Thomas L.Jennings was an abolitionist and tradesman who owned a tailoring business in New York City.  In 1821 he invented The Dry Cleaning Machine.  He was one of the first Black men in the U.S. to be granted a patent.

Granville T. Woods is Inventor of the telephone transmitter.  His device is used in Railroad telegraph, subway systems, roller coasters, etc

Benjamin Banneker is credited as the first Black inventor in the U.S.   He helped draw up plans for Washington D.C. , Also credited with making the first clock built in America,

Henry T. Sampson is the first Black person to receive a PH.d in Nuclear Engineering in the U.S.  He Invented the  gamma electric cell which is designed to provide auxiliary power from the shielding of a nuclear reactor.
